Mission & Values

Nurturing Faith and Community in Red Deer

Our mission is simple yet profound — to know God, to love God, and to serve God. At St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Parish, we proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Byzantine Catholic tradition, fostering spiritual growth, preserving our rich Ukrainian heritage, and welcoming all who seek Christ.

To Know God
We come to know God through Scripture, prayer, catechism, and the living witness of the Church. In the Divine Liturgy and the sacraments, we encounter Him personally and grow in understanding of His love.
To Love God
As we know Him, we learn to love Him — trusting His mercy, worshipping with reverence, and offering our hearts in prayer and thanksgiving. Love deepens our bond with Christ and with one another.
To Serve God
Our love becomes action when we serve others with kindness, justice, and compassion. We strive to be Christ’s hands and heart in the world, helping those in need and living our faith every day.
Our Priest

Fr. Ivan Bykov

Fr. Ivan Bykov was born in Ukraine and ordained a priest in 2007. Since 2024, he has served as pastor of St. Vladimir’s Parish in Red Deer, guiding the community in faith and helping preserve the traditions of the Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Fr. Ivan Bykov was born in Ukraine, where his mother and grandmother nurtured his faith by taking him to Divine Liturgy and teaching him to pray at home. After studying at the Lviv Theological Seminary, he was ordained to the priesthood in 2007 in Stryi. His first years of ministry in village parishes taught him the strength of prayer, service, and walking with people through both joys and trials.
