Born a prince and known for his power and ambition, Vladimir of Kyiv once sought strength in earthly ways. Yet, his heart was restless until he encountered the Gospel of Christ. After sending envoys to study the faiths of neighboring nations, he was deeply moved by the beauty and depth of the Byzantine Christian liturgy in Constantinople. In 988, Vladimir was baptized, and with him, his people entered the life of the Church.
His personal transformation — from a ruler of conquest to a Christian king marked by mercy, justice, and care for the poor — remains a witness to God’s grace. Through Saint Vladimir’s example, we remember that true strength is found in faith and that baptism is the gateway to a new life in Christ. Our parish, dedicated to his name, strives to carry this same mission today: to know God, to love Him, and to serve Him with joy and steadfast hope.
