Council 9559 is part of the global Knights of Columbus organization — over 2.1 million Catholic men dedicated to serving God, family, and community. Guided by the four foundational principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism, our mission extends from caring for families in need to defending faith, life, and the sanctity of marriage.
Founded in May 1987, just three years after St. Vladimir Parish was established, our council began with 29 charter members. Today, we are blessed with over 55 active Knights, meeting monthly to plan, pray, and serve together.
Our executive includes:
Grand Knight — Vitalii Varvaruk
Deputy Grand Knight — Volodymyr Korol
Chancellor — Igor Klymyuk
Recorder — Lew Figol
Treasurer — David Kolasa Jr
Financial Secretary — Claude Dupont
From the beginning, our council has been dedicated to charitable work — from building a “Living Rosary” at Our Lady of Victory Camp, to supporting our parish’s 25th anniversary and sending youth to World Youth Day 2002 with St. John Paul II.
We continue to serve through fundraising, family programs, and outreach to newcomers. During the recent influx of Ukrainian refugees, the Knights helped organize financial support, household goods, and even a bicycle repair clinic, refurbishing over 100 bikes for those in need.
Each year, we host beloved parish events — the Family Picnic, The Last Picnic, and Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast — all bringing our parish family closer together in faith and friendship.

When war broke out in Ukraine, the Knights of Columbus were among the first to respond through the Ukraine Solidarity Fund, which has now received over 68,000 donations totaling more than $24 million USD — all directed to those in need.
Our council continues to assist by collecting donations, medical supplies, and supporting partner organizations on the ground. We are also proud of the growing Ukrainian-language outreach, helping new members discover the Knights’ mission in their own language and tradition.
The Knights of Columbus were founded by Blessed Fr. Michael McGivney to care for widows and orphans — a mission that continues today through our insurance and investment programs.
Our members have access to faith-based financial services, designed by Brother Knights for Brother Knights, with ethical investments guided by Catholic teaching. We encourage every member to meet with our local insurance agent for a free review and discover how these programs can provide lasting protection for their families.

Every Catholic man — Ukrainian or Roman Rite — is invited to join our fraternity. Membership is open to men 18 years and older who are practicing Catholics in good standing.
The process is simple:
Learn about who we are and what we do.
Complete the online application at www.kofc.org/join.
Attend an Exemplification of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity, after which you will be officially welcomed as a Knight.
Our members find friendship, purpose, and spiritual growth through service. Any current Knight will gladly help you begin your journey.
After one year of membership, a Knight may choose to advance to the Fourth Degree, known as the Patriotic Degree. These members dedicate themselves to service, leadership, and visible witness to faith and country.
Our region is served by the Father Woodhouse 4th Degree Assembly, which participates in episcopal visits, church dedications, anniversaries, and community celebrations.
We are proud of our members who have taken this step, deepening their commitment to both God and nation.
